And no, it is not anywhere based on the teenage pregnancy movie Juno. However, it does support a few non-profit organizations which help in combating teenage pregnancy, among one its numerous other non-profit organizations. Jumo is derived from the language Yoruba from Nigeria. It means Together in concert and aims to do the same.
The site is a way for non-profit organizations to connect with millions of supporters around the world and to each other. The facebook co-founder along with the chief digital organizer for the united States President Obama who was instrumental in the online electoral campaign, together made this possible. Their intention was to create a place where likeminded people can meet each other and share their resources and help each other when required. It also has a complicated function of finding what people are good at and making use of their skills for a noble cause. It connects these people to the non-profit organization which requires these kind of people. It helps people build relationship after finding out if they share similar interests and skills. Its main intention is to spread resources and increase the amount of donation that these non-profit organizations get. Visitors need an account to browse the database of the site. A facebook account can also be used to browse the site. Categories of skills included on the site are education, environment, culture health animals, human rights, poverty, peace, governance, human trafficking, drugs and addictions.
