Project C.U.R.E (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipments) was started by James Jackson. In the 1970s a millionaire James Jackson from Colorado gave away most of his millions of dollars for charity and began offering financial advices and published materials regarding the same. He was invited by the International Monetary fund to make use of his business idea in the developing world along with the world fund. Project C.U.R.E came into existence after he gathered and donated 50 thousand USD worth of medical equipments to a Brazilian Doctor who wanted to set up a healthcare centre which would serve approximately 350,000 people. At present Project C.U.R.E is involved in collecting and donating medical equipments and supplies to about 120 countries around the world. The medical supplies donated by Project C.U.R.E ranges from disposable surgical gloves to cardiac monitors and dialysis machines.
Project C.U.R.E has its main distribution centers in 4 parts of United States and many collection centers are spread across the country. The surplus medical equipments and supplies from the wholesalers and the older models of equipments from hospitals are collected in the project C.U.R.E collection and distribution centers and these will be shipped to the clinics and hospitals around the world who have requested for the C.U.R.Es assistance. Before providing the assistance or shipping the supplies and equipments a team will conduct on site assessment evaluating how the equipments and supplies will be put to use. The medical professionals associated with C.U.R.E can travel to C.U.R.E clinics in partner hospitals and work along with the local doctors. An average of 200 patients will be attended by a medical professional per day during the C.U.R.E clinic.
Even though most of the supplies are donated by hospitals and wholesalers, even individuals in possession of supplies can drop it in C.U.R.E collection centers. Volunteers can assist I n cataloging and packing the supplies so that it can be shipped, similarly technicians to test the equipments before shipping. Even monetary donations are welcome.
